Overview

The Pharmacist ensures compliance and adheres to all applicable state and federal laws.  Supervises daily operations at the Pharmacy, including outpatient and mail order pharmacy, and repackaging and distribution of drugs to remote health center sites. Supervises Pharmacy Technicians and ensures the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescription orders.  Performs clinical pharmacy services for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains pharmacy operations and records in compliance with federal, 340B, DEA, CMS and Nevada state law
  • Dispenses appropriate and accurate prescriptions and provides patient counseling
  • Supervises pharmacy support staff, including verification of daily activities and assisting in performance evaluations
  • Supports the NVHC mission and utilizes its programs to help eligible patients access medications
  • Provides a general knowledge of services offered at our health centers
  • Utilizes drug information references as needed for dispensing and clinical services
  • Maintains pharmaceutical inventory at appropriate levels
  • Ensures cleanliness of work environment during operational hours
  • Sets the example of exemplary customer service for both internal and external customers
  • Ensures security of pharmaceutical inventory
  • Provides drug information for NVHC providers
  • Utilizes EMR for patient information needed for dispensing and clinical services
  • Utilizes EMR communications template for tasking to appropriate clinic staff
  • Completes tasks as assigned by Pharmacy Director or Manager
  • Ensures patient confidentiality and HIPPA compliance
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings as requested
  • Informs Pharmacy Director or Manager of inaccuracies or noncompliance issues
  • Follows all Pharmacy, EMR, 340B and NVHC policies and procedures
  • Performs clinical pharmacy services as needed

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with Doctor of Pharmacy degree (or Bachelors of Pharmacy with 5 years of experience.)  Immunization and MTM or disease state monitoring experience required.  Must be professionally competent and licensed by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy.  Required to maintain CPR and immunization certification.
