Overview

The Dentist is responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and injuries in a General Dental Practice model for both mobile and fixed-facility settings; provides comprehensive, general practice dental services for individuals and families on a continuing basis, and may, at certain locations, provide referrals for a continuum of care into a specialty care setting; responsible for dental assistant (DA) clinical supervision and continuing verification of the DA's clinical skills competency.  Additionally, at certain sites, the dentist is responsible for dispensing pharmaceuticals from the clinic dispensary , and serving as lab director tests performed in the clinic.

 

Work schedule:  Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient assessments
  • Diagnoses and treats a variety of oral health diseases and injuries
  • Performs a variety of procedures in the clinic
  • Elicits and records information
  • Orders and executes various tests, analyses and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and exams, and diagnoses condition of patient
  • Administers, prescribes and dispenses treatments and medications
  • Provides medically appropriate and fiscally responsible clinical oral health treatment/will work quadrant dentistry
  • Promotes health by educating the patient regarding diet, hygiene and prevention of disease
  • Reports birth, deaths and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities
  • Performs surgical oral health procedures commensurate with surgical competency
  • Conducts oral health exams for school, jobs or eligibility for insurance coverage
  • Informs patient and patient family of risks associated with procedures and assures signatures are obtained in accordance with NVHC policy and procedures
  • Provides emotional support, compassion and is sympathetic to patient needs
  • Provides emergency oral health services
  • Does triage for walk-ins, call-ins and urgent patients
  • Reviews and follow up all abnormal lab results
  • Reviews charts on all "no shows" and cancelled appointments per NVHC policy and procedure

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited dental school and passing scores on the National Dental Boards.  Must be licensed in the State of Nevada.
